Come with me back to 1995. We’re in Mum’s flower garden in Hawke’s Bay surrounded by cosmos, roses, lavender and of course my forever favourite dahlias. There is magic and core memories in the scents, sounds and visual beauty of the moment. It’s here that my love for flowers first took root. I take my time carefully selecting the best blooms to carry inside, where they transform their new space with beauty and warmth.

This is the very essence of my art. Those same feelings recreated and brought to life with paint.

I am Louise Chaffard, a New Zealand born artist based in Melbourne with a passion for design, drawing and painting. I paint from my home studio when I find the moments to alongside being a mother to my two young daughters.

I completed a Bachelor of Textile Design in Wellington, New Zealand before moving to Melbourne and working in a variety of roles, from textile studio assistant, visual merchandiser to selling interior wholesale textiles. But no matter where life took me, I was always drawn back to where it all started—surrounded by colour, design, and the allure of flowers.

My original pieces of acrylic paint on canvas are celebrations of all things floral.  It fills me with joy to see my work find a place in your home, where it can continue to bloom.
